The publication of science involves conscientious, systematic, and comprehensive processes by publishers and editors that need to be dealt with efficiently and competently. To maintain high ethical standards of the publication of quality science, the publisher strives to work closely with journal editors, authors, and peer-reviewers at all times. The ethics statement for Chinese Journal of Vacuum Science and Technology is based on the statements by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Code of Conduct guidelines available at www.publicationethics.org.

 

The essentials of Chinese Journal of Vacuum Science and Technology’s publishing ethics for all groups involved in the publishing process are as follows:

 

1. Editors’ Responsibilities
1.1 The editor of a journal holds a vital position of making important editorial decisions on all peer-reviewed manuscripts submitted for publication.
1.2 The editor should maintain the transparency of academic research and records, preclude professional needs from cooperating ethical standards, and always be willing to publish retractions, rectifications, and erratum when required.
1.3 The editor should assess manuscripts for their scientific quality and intellectual content and should avoid any biased decisions based on race, gender, geographical origin, or religion of the author(s). The editor should evaluate manuscripts objectively, based on their academic merit, and free of any commercial or self-interests.
1.4 The editor should not disclose any information on submitted manuscripts before the publication of the manuscript.
1.5 The promotion of research rectitude must be preserved. If at any stage the publisher suspects any kind of misconduct in research, it should be investigated promptly in detail with the appropriate authority; and if any suspicious act of misconduct is observed during the peer review, it should be resolved with diligence.

2. Reviewers’ Responsibilities
2.1 Providing a detailed, constructive, and unbiased evaluation of the scientific content of the work in a timely manner;
2.2 Indicating whether the writing is relevant, concise, and clear, and evaluating the originality and scientific accuracy;
2.3 Maintaining the confidentiality of the whole review process;
2.4 Notifying the journal editor about any financial or personal conflict of interest and declining to review the manuscript when a possibility of such a conflict exists;
2.5 Notifying the journal editor of any ethical concerns in their evaluation of submitted manuscripts; for example, any violation of ethical treatment of animal or human subjects or any considerable similarity between the previously published article and any reviewed manuscript.

3. Publisher’s Responsibilities
3.1 All the work reported in the manuscript must be original and free of any kind of plagiarism.
3.2 The work should not have been published elsewhere or submitted to any other journal(s) at the same time.
3.3 Any potential conflict of interest must be clearly acknowledged.
3.4 Other work used (individual/company/institution) must be properly acknowledged. Permission must be obtained for any content used from other sources.
3.5 Only those who have made substantial contributions to the interpretation or composition of the submitted work should be listed as “authors,” while other contributors should be mentioned as “co-authors.”

4. Editors’ Responsibilities
4.1 Chinese Journal of Vacuum Science and Technology is committed to working with journal editors, defining their relevant roles clearly, in order to ensure appropriate decisions regarding publication procedures and maintain the transparency of editorial decisions.
4.2 Chinese Journal of Vacuum Science and Technology ensures the integrity, autonomy, and originality of each published article with respect to the following responsibilities:
4.3 Chinese Journal of Vacuum Science and Technology ensures that if the publisher finds academic misconduct in the published papers, the publisher will withdraw the papers and publish the withdrawal statement.
4.4 Chinese Journal of Vacuum Science and Technology shall publish detailed guidelines (such as submission guidelines, writing guidelines, etc.) required by the author and update it in a timely manner.
4.5 Chinese Journal of Vacuum Science and Technology shall establish a system to manage conflicts of interest between its editors, authors, reviewers, and editorial board members.

5. Advertisement Subscription

5.1 The readers of the journal are scholars, experts and professional technicians engaged in scientific research, higher education and high-tech applications in the field of vacuum science and technology and related disciplines. At present, the printed journals have basically covered all the group members of the China Vacuum Society.

5.2 The journal has been approved by the management department to legally carry out advertising business (advertising license: Jing Hai Shi Jian Guang Deng Zi No. 20200043). The journal is an advertising media engaged in vacuum technology and the manufacture of its related equipment, instruments, materials, parts and other products. It is a media for relevant manufacturers, scientific research institutions, marketing companies and other manufacturers to establish corporate image, disseminate product information, and contact supply and sales channels. The content of advertising services mainly includes: information that provide technical service for vacuum science and technology research; information for conferences, academic seminars, promotion of scientific research achievements, etc.

5.3 The journal publishes 12 issues throughout the year, and the price of a single print advertisement is 18,000 yuan per year. The price of the second cover and the back cover is negotiable. The specific content and form are negotiated separately.
